Strong black coffee, fresh croissants, bonhomie – McDonald's new McCafé concept is going down surprisingly well in France.  It features a separate bar within its restaurants, serving a coffee shop menu, complete with British-made refrigeration, manufactured for McCafé by Precision and supplied via French distributor Marrel. 

One issue was that McCafé required a special refrigerated counter, compact enough to fit into the tight space and designed to meet a coffee-shop's requirements.  Marrel turned to us to supply the bespoke counters. 

Marrel Refrigeration makes the whole McCafé bar, which includes a professional espresso machine and refrigerated and ambient food displays.  From Precision Marrel sourced the bar's 150 litre undercounter freezer (model LPU 150 SS) and the specially designed refrigerated counter, which includes two drawers, a door and an ambient 'knock-drawer' for the coffee grounds.

"We've been working with Marrel for some time – in fact they supply several more of our products to McDonald's in France," says Nick Williams, managing director of Precision.  "So they knew all about  our ability to deliver bespoke counter designs and had the confidence to specify us to the client.  It's a great win for us."
